BIOBLACK Project Successfully Conducted Its First International Workshop in Trabzon

Bringing together project partners, academic leaders, and key marine stakeholders from across the Black Sea basin, the BIOBLACK Project first workshop was successfully held on September 2, 2026, at Karadeniz Technical University in Trabzon, Türkiye.
Co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme, the BIOBLACK Project (Raising Awareness for the Black Sea People to Recognize and Protect Black Sea Biodiversity) reached a major milestone with this high-level international gathering. Hosted at the Nazım Terzioğlu Amphitheater in Karadeniz Technical University Trabzon Turkiye, the event served as a collaborative platform to evaluate regional biodiversity, share national findings, and introduce innovative educational tools.
The workshop witnessed strong participation from institutional leadership, including the Vice Rector of Karadeniz Technical University (KTÜ) and the Dean of the Faculty of Marine Sciences, Coast Guard, Trabzon Directorate Provincial Agricultural and Forestry, Ortahisar Municipality alongside representatives from international partner organizations the Institute of Fish Resources (IFR) from Bulgaria and the Ecological Nongovernmental Organization Mare Nostrum from Romania as well as key regional stakeholders in Türkiye.
