Within the framework of the Erasmus+ Student Mobility for Traineeships, Maria Isabel Toalisa Medina, an incoming student from the Universita degli Studi del Piemonte Orientale in Italy, has arrived at the Molecular Biology and Genetics Department of Karadeniz Technical University to pursue her academic studies.

Having commenced her Erasmus+ internship on April 6, 2026, Maria Isabel Toalisa Medina will gain practical experience in genetic research and molecular studies in the department's modern laboratories throughout her training period, which will continue until June 12, 2026. The participation of our exchange student will not only add cultural richness to the department's research ecosystem but also strengthen academic interaction.

Before starting her traineeship at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Maria was welcomed by KTU Office of Exchange Programmes. After being provided with information regarding her Erasmus+ process, she was also presented with a gift bag and a commemorative photo was taken with her.

As the KTU Office of Exchange Programmes, we wish Maria Isabel Toalisa Medina success in her scientific endeavors at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics and hope that her internship period will be productive for both her professional and personal development. The student's academic supervision will be carried out by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selcen Celik Uzuner, an academic staff member of the department.
